Odessa is the Black Sea gateway to Ukraine. It is the country's largest commercial Black Sea port and a large industrial city. Odessa is a crossroads of cultures, languages and trade, a charming multi-ethnic and multy-cultural city on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine. This region has a rich history, including the antic (Greek and Roman) period as well as recent developments connected with the names of outstanding scientists (G. Gamow, A. Lyapunov, I. Mechnikov, D. Mendeleev, I.E. Tamm; V.P. Glushko snd S.P. Korolev - founders of space rocketry), poet A.Puskin,writers (I. Bunin, V. Kataev, I. Babel), musicians (Sviatoslav Richter, David Oistrakh), artists (I. Aivazovsky) and many more. The beauty of Odessa is in Prymorsky boulevard with its beautiful buildings and the Potemkin Stairs, one of the beautiful opera-building of the world and etc.

Fees

The symposium fee is equivalent of 300 EUR, the fee of accompanying persons will be 50 EUR. That of participants of undergraduate students will be reduced to 20 EUR.

That of participants from Ukraine will be 350 UAH, for students -150 UAH, fee of accompanying persons will be 200 UAH.

That of participants from Russia and another SNG-country will be 50 EUR, the fee of accompanying persons will be 20 EUR, that of participants of students will be 10 EUR.

Payable during registration in Odessa in any “easily” convertible (UAH, EUR, USD) currency.

The fee will cover organization expenses, admission to all sessions, refreshment during the coffee breaks, welcome party, lease of conference-hall, etc.

There are neither limits, no problems with changing money (in both directions).

Arrival to Odessa

Odessa can be reached by air directly from Kiev, Lviv, Vienna, Minsk, Riga, Warsaw, Prague, Istanbul, Kishinev, Tel-Aviv, Tbilisi etc., by train (e.g. Kiev–Odessa, Moscow–Odessa, in sleeping car), by autocar or by sea.
Shuttles will be provided at the airport on arrival day, Sunday, May 2.

VISAS: Entry visas are not required for citizens from Europe, including the Russian Federation, North America, a number of Latin-American countries, Turkey, Israel, Japan, South Korea. The relevant list can be found at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine page. If required, visas will be issued without delay at Ukraine’s Embassy in your country on the basis of our official invitation.

Accommodation

The symposium will be held in hotel “Arkadia”, where most of the participants will be accommodated: 24 Genuezkaya St., Odessa 65009, Ukraine . The hotel is located in the hononymous recreation zone of Odessa (see the map). It offers reasonable quality/price ratios and provides a variety of services (conference hall, lodging, meals, refreshment (bar)). Apart from “Arkadia”, participants may choose among a large number of near-by hotels, although “Arkadia”, epicenter of the symposium may be the optimal choice. The Organizing Committee will take care of your reservation in hotel “Arkadia”, otherwise everybody is free to choose any alternative, e.g. in the neighbouring luxurious (but more expensive) hotel “Atlantic” : 24a Genuezskaya street, Odessa 65009 Ukraine. A limited number of budgetary (cheap) accommodation, also close to the conference site, will be available by individual request. Remember that Odessa in May is crowded by tourists, so reservation must be done in advance. Participants can make reservation in hotel "Arkadia" via the Organizing Committee, indicating their choice in the Registration Form.

Standard room approximately $50

Meals: the restaurant in "Arkadia" offers breakfast (buffet) for 6 USD, as well as lunches and dinners, each for 10 USD (to be ordered a couple of days in advance). In view of the dense scientific and cultural program, all participants are recommended (at least) to lunch in Arkadia.

Weather in May usually is very good: sunny and warmth (25-27 degree)

There will be available a lot of different cultural and social events, like visiting of Opera House – one of the beautiful opera-building of the world, Tairov Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking (excursion and degustation), a variety of tours around the city and the coast, boat trip along the coast etc.
